Apple releases updates to fix security flaws

Apple released emergency security updates (macOS Monterey 12.5.1 and iOS 15.6.1/iPadOS 15.6.1) today to fix two zero-day vulnerabilities previously exploited by attackers to hack iPhones, iPads, or Macs.

The list of devices affected by both vulnerabilities are:

·       Macs running macOS Monterey

·       iPhone 6s and later

·       iPad Pro (all models), iPad Air 2 and later, iPad 5th generation and later, iPad mini 4 and later, and iPod touch (7th generation).

It is important to note it is likely, these zero-days were only used in targeted attacks, but it's still strongly advised to install today's security updates as soon as possible.

If you are using any of these Apple devices for work or personally, we recommend you apply the updates. Ideally, you should be updating all devices you use for work and personally to protect your data and your company.

Cybersecurity best practice is not to install applications that are not approved by your organisation, not to jail break or root devices to allow unofficial software. All users should be trained to avoid social engineering attacks and should not click on unknown links or execute unknown attachments and avoid visiting potentially malicious websites.
